5K - Grade 5 Families: Field Day Information:
-
Please send in a healthy snack for your child(ren) to enjoy before heading down to the park!
-
All 5K-grade 5 students will need a disposable bag lunch and a TOTAL of 3 disposable drinks. We encourage that two of the drinks be water. See details below:
-
Packing the lunch in a labelled gallon ziploc bag with their name. The ziploc bag works well since the lunches are placed in coolers to keep them cool. No hot lunch will be available. We will eat in the park.
-
The weather forecast looks sunny and warm so students will likely be thirsty! Please send one disposable water bottle labelled with their name separate from their lunch for the morning. Then please include two disposable drinks within their lunch. Duct tape works well for labelling their name on disposable water bottles. And write initials on the top of the water bottles, too!
-
-
Please put sunscreen on your child before they come to school. Students are welcome to wear hats to help keep the sun off of their faces.

Students may wear their Tonawanda grade level t-shirts that they wore for the Turkey Trot or a t-shirt of your child's grade level color

From the Elmbrook Education Foundation (EEF) Volunteers Needed: We want to let you know about a wonderful volunteer opportunity for 2026-27: The Elmbrook Education Foundation (EEF) is continuing its Intergenerational Program in all 5 of our elementary schools, which involves having volunteers work with our students on reading fluency during WIN/SOAR time once or twice per week from October to May. The program has been running successfully at Swanson for 3 years, at Dixon for 2 years, and at all 5 schools for the past year, and we are excited to see it continuing across the district! This year, the program reached over 190 students with 76 active volunteers! Next year, EEF will need at least 80-90 volunteers to support all 5 schools, so they are encouraging people to apply as soon as possible. (Fortunately, many volunteers from this year will be continuing next year!)
Here’s the timeline of ramping up the program to prepare for next year:
- Applicants can apply now! (The on-line Google Form Application and the Printable Application)
- Applicants will be contacted for brief virtual interviews (20 minutes via Zoom) throughout the summer (June-August).
- Applicants selected for a volunteer position will be asked to complete an on-line background check process (required for all volunteers in Elmbrook Schools).
- Volunteering schedules will be finalized in August and September based on volunteer preferences and availability and student schedules. (days of week, time slots, and school assignment)
- Brief training and orientation sessions (1.5-2 hours) will be held for volunteers in late September/early October.
- Volunteers will work with students 1-2 times per week from October 5, 2026, through May 6, 2027.
