NEW! Please join us in celebrating Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week  next week, May 4th - 8th at Tonawanda! Our teachers and staff share their energy, smiles, expertise, care, and guidance EVERY DAY to our Tonawanda Tigers and we appreciate their efforts each day. Next week we have a wonderful opportunity to share with them our appreciation with a note from your family or a picture from your child(ren). These small acts of appreciation mean a lot to our incredible teachers and staff that work with our students. Please know that our Tonawanda PTO organizes a special week of treats, lunch, etc. for our teachers and staff through your generous financial support of our PTO. Thank you, in advance, for your thoughtfulness and generosity!

NEW! Next Thursday, May 7th! Our Spring G4/G5 Band, Orchestra, and Chorus Concert will be held at Tonawanda in our GYM on Thursday, May 7th from 6:00 - 7:00 PM. All performing students should arrive at 5:45 PM and our doors will open for audience seating at that time, too. All musicians, singers, and their guests are kindly requested to stay for the entire hour-long concert, please. We will have both parking lots available for parking.

NEW! Our May PTO Meeting is scheduled for Thursday, May 14 at 6 PM in the library. Please plan to join us. If you cannot join us in person, here is the Google Meet: meet.google.com/bzv-evwm-goa

NEW! Our 5K - G3 Music Showcase: One World One Song. This great evening is scheduled for May 19th from 6:00 - 7:00 PM in our Tonawanda cafeteria. We are so excited about showcasing our 5K, G1, G2, and G3 students at our Music Showcase evening scheduled for Tuesday, May 19 from 6:00 - 7:00 PM at Tonawanda in our cafeteria. Our 5K through grade 3 students will perform. This will be a CONCERT- style event with an audience expectation of silence when the students are performing. Each grade level will be on stage for about 15 minutes. Thank you, in advance, for your cooperation. Please have your child(ren) report to the hallway ramp near the kindergarten rooms about 3 minutes before their grade level performance. There will be Tonawanda staff members stationed to assist in monitoring students waiting for their time on stage. During the performances, our cafeteria doors will be closed so that the music performance is not interrupted with the coming and going of students and their families. Between each grade level's performance, we will provide time for families to exchange seats with the next performing grade level's families. Thank you for your thoughtfulness to your fellow Tonawanda families so that all can see and hear their child(ren)'s performance(s)! There will certainly be room for a "standing audience" in the back behind our chair seating, too. The evening's schedule of performances: 5K at 6:00 PM; G1 at 6:15 PM; G2 at 6:30 PM and G3 at 6:45 PM.  Flyer linked here! Again, please have your child(ren) report to the hallway ramp near the kindergarten rooms about 3 minutes before their grade level's performance time.

NEW! We’re thrilled to announce a special Book Sale on May 19th during our 5K-G3 Music Showcase! The book sale (all info linked here) will be open from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM. We’re partnering with Rainbow Books, the last independent children’s bookstore in the Milwaukee area! Every dollar raised will benefit the Tonawanda Music Program. ALL families are welcome to shop at the book sale even if your child is not performing at the Music Showcase!  Don’t miss it—come celebrate music and support a love of reading!

IMPORTANT! Change of Plans for After-School Dismissal. Please notify us of any change in your child(ren)'s after school dismissal plans.  Please send an email to your child's teacher and copy both our administrative assistant Mrs. Michelle Kiese at kiesem@elmbrookschools.org and our health room assistants at tonawandahealthroom@elmbrookschools.org  as early as you can in the morning, but for certain before noon.  After 12 noon, we cannot guarantee that your child's teacher will get the email as they are busy teaching and working with our students, and likely not checking email. If plans change after 12 noon, please call the MAIN SCHOOL OFFICE at 262-785-3950 to talk to Mrs. Michelle Kiese about the plans. Thank you for your assistance in keeping consistent plans for your child(ren) and for communicating with us when the plans need to change.

Before school drop-off by car is an ACTIVE DROP-OFF process. If your child needs additional assistance to exit your vehicle in the morning, please pull up into the buckle zone. The LANE closest to the sidewalk is an ACTIVE DROP-OFF LANE.  Thank you for your help to keep our car drop-off safe for our students and efficient for all of our families.  Please read all the expectations for our safe AM drop off in this linked information.

ARTSONIA- Featuring Your child(ren)'s artwork!  Check out Artsonia to purchase keepsake items and to support our Tonawanda art program, too! See this flyer for all the information.  If you have questions, please reach out to Sara Mateske, our art teacher, at mateskes@elmbrookschools.org.

Vacation Form: Please complete this vacation form when your child(ren) will miss three or more days due to a family vacation. Thank you!

Due to large ridership on our buses, only routed students will be allowed on the buses again this school year.  We cannot have unrouted students ride home with other students on their buses for playdates. Only routed and assigned bus riders may be on our buses.  Thank you for your understanding!

Background Check Process for Volunteers!  We love  our family/parent/grandparent volunteers!  In hopes that we will be able to welcome you all back in to help out this upcoming school year, we wanted to share the process for becoming a volunteer in our schools.  Please see https://www.elmbrookschools.org/departments/human-resources/how-to-volunteer-in-elmbrook for all the information including completing our district's volunteer background check process.  You will need to renew this process every two years.  It is a great idea to get this task done over the summer as there is an approximate two week processing time before you are able to volunteer in our school. Thank you!
