Note from our General Music Teacher, Anna Contezac: MUSIC and ME! You are cordially invited to attend MUSIC and ME! Day, to be held during our regularly scheduled music classes from Tuesday, May 26th - Monday June 1st, please see this linked schedule for class times and dates. Families of students may come into Tonawanda and watch while students perform or present in class! Please come a bit early to make sure you get a visitors badge. Mrs. Contezac will also be recording it to send home. If you need your student to have a performance on a specific date, just let Mrs. Contezac know!
During MUSIC and ME!, students share one another’s diverse musical interests, while practicing confident presentation skills and proper audience etiquette. Like a musical “show and tell,” MUSIC and ME! is voluntary, and all students are heartily encouraged to present how music is special in their lives. Student performances and/or presentations need to be 3 minutes or less in length. Additionally, if students are performing with audio, a permission slip or permission email is required. Students are reminded of the 3 PRs: PRepare, PRactice, PResent! Students who participate receive applause, recognition, and a certificate to savor as a memento.
Calling All Chess Players! Join the Chess Tournament that will be held at Dixon Elementary on Saturday, May 30th from 9:30 AM - 3:00 PM. Open to only Elmbrook elementary students! See this linked flyer for all the details and registration information.
Our 5K - G3 Music Showcase: One World One Song. This great evening is scheduled for May 19th from 6:00 - 7:00 PM in our Tonawanda cafeteria. We are so excited about showcasing our 5K, G1, G2, and G3 students at our Music Showcase evening scheduled for Tuesday, May 19 from 6:00 - 7:00 PM at Tonawanda in our cafeteria. Our 5K through grade 3 students will perform. This will be a CONCERT- style event with an audience expectation of silence when the students are performing. Each grade level will be on stage for about 15 minutes. Thank you, in advance, for your cooperation. Please have your child(ren) report to the hallway ramp near the kindergarten rooms about 3 minutes before their grade level performance. There will be Tonawanda staff members stationed to assist in monitoring students waiting for their time on stage. During the performances, our cafeteria doors will be closed so that the music performance is not interrupted with the coming and going of students and their families. Between each grade level's performance, we will provide time for families to exchange seats with the next performing grade level's families. Thank you for your thoughtfulness to your fellow Tonawanda families so that all can see and hear their child(ren)'s performance(s)! There will certainly be room for a "standing audience" in the back behind our chair seating, too. The evening's schedule of performances: 5K at 6:00 PM; G1 at 6:15 PM; G2 at 6:30 PM and G3 at 6:45 PM. Flyer linked here! Again, please have your child(ren) report to the hallway ramp near the kindergarten rooms about 3 minutes before their grade level's performance time.
